The Battle Cry Of Israel

Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

This battle cry appears in several places in the Old Testament.

Joshua 8:1,8
v. 1 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: v. 8 And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the Lord shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.

Joshua 10:24-25 (This is after Israel's victory over the 5 kings that attacked Gibeon.)
v. 24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. v. 25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

1 Chronicles 19:13-14 (also in 2 Samuel 10:12-13) (When the enemies of God had surrounded the army of Israel, Joab says:)
v. 13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the Lord do that which is good in his sight. v. 14 So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

1 Chronicles 22:13; 28:20 (Here King David is charging Solomon to build the temple.)
22:13 Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed. 28:20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

2 Chronicles 20:15,17-18 (Judah was invaded by a great army, & King Jehoshaphat prayed to God.)
v. 15 And he (Jahaziel) said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. v. 17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. v. 18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.

2 Chronicles 32:6-8 (This is after the king of Assyria invaded Judah.)
v. 6 And he (King Hezekiah) set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spoke comfortably to them, saying, v. 7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: v. 8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

Warning against using God's Word to justify our fleshing desires.
2 Samuel 13:28-29a (Absalom seeks to murder his brother Amnon.)
v. 28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant. v. 29a And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded.

This is a good memory verse containing the Battle Cry.
Isaiah 41:10
v. 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
